Introduction
The Alexa WIS helps gather information about websites. This information is accessible via the Alexa Website or via the Alexa WIS API. This Data is useful in understanding traffic and geographical data of websites and helps people understand the scope/usage of a certain website or maybe even a certain vertical.
Accuracy of Alexa DATA
Alexa Data is based on people who have installed the Alexa Plugin on their web browsers. It is assumed that this sample is reliable enough representation of the general web surfing population.
Advantages of Alexa
- Alexa is one of the few organisations which provide such details to the general public.
- It has one of the largest sample in the business.
- Alexa is an authority, and information/numbers can be quoted.

Data Available from AWIS
Reach
Reach measures the number of users. Reach is typically expressed as the percentage of all Internet users who visit a given site. So, for example, if a site like yahoo.com has a reach of 28%, this means that of all global Internet users measured by Alexa, 28% of them visit yahoo.com. Alexa's one-week and three-month average reach are measures of daily reach, averaged over the specified time period. The three-month change is determined by comparing a site's current reach with its values from three months ago.
Page views
Page views measure the number of pages viewed by site visitors. Multiple page views of the same page made by the same user on the same day are counted only once. The page views per user numbers are the average numbers of unique pages viewed per user per day by the visitors to the site. The three-month change is determined by comparing a site's current page view numbers with those from three months ago.
Traffic Rank
Traffic Rank is the rank of the website based on reach and page views.
Geography split
This data lets us know where the visits for this website come from. It gives us % split based on where the clicks come from.
Some times all the Data will not be available. Daily values are not available for sites ranked outside of the Top 100K.
